Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. After relocating to Oxfordshire at the age of five, Emma attended the Dragon School. When she was six years old, Emma was aware that she wanted to be an actress and for several years, she studied at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned the art of acting and dancing. At the age of 10 years old, Emma took part in many Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000), the movie adaptation to J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was cast for the first time at the beginning of 1999. Emma was discovered by agents via their Oxford teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that after eight consecutive auditions, she and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first film on the screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. It was also one of the top-rated films in 2001. Its opening weekday and weekend sales were record-breaking. Critics gave high praise to the film, particularly the young performers. The Daily Telegraph in Britain and the Daily Telegraph in America, widely read, called her performance commendable. Emma's performance received nominations and later won awards for the movie.
